Menopause?! What your skin needs now.

During the menopause, many women suffer from physical complaints such as hot flushes or sleep disorders. The skin also undergoes many changes due to the different conditions in the body. Find out here how you can best meet the needs of your skin during the menopause. Common skin problems during the menopause include dry skin, thinner skin, reduced sebum production, impaired microcirculation and a continuous breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers. You can specifically prevent these problems through a balanced lifestyle, good nutrition and the right skin care.

If you take the following points into account, you will optimally meet the needs of your skin during the menopause:

1. Wash your face with a mild cleanser. Then tone it.

2. It's best to exfoliate your skin daily - this cleanses your pores, speeds up cell renewal and moisturizes the skin better.

3. Use a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid or other effective moisturizing ingredients twice a day.

4. You can also use serums or creams with retinol, vitamin C, vitamin A and fruit acids to counteract the ageing of your skin.

5. Sun protection is now very important to protect your skin from further thinning and damage.

6. Don't forget the skin on the neck and décolleté - this is where the skin becomes thinner and needs a lot of moisture.

The increased concentration of androgens in the body during the menopause can disrupt sebum production. This can lead to oily skin and blemishes. Thorough cleansing with a cleanser and toner is therefore essential. It is also advisable to use antibacterial agents such as microsilver or sea salt. A low-sugar, antioxidant-rich and low-fat diet can also improve the appearance of the skin.
